Oakland, The Story of a City

$27.50
Oakland, The Story of a City by Beth Bagwell has been the standard for Oakland local history since it was originally published in 1982. This second edition faithfully replicates the entire original text and index, using new scans for most of the images, and including a new 32-page Afterword, “The City in a New Century,” by Erika Mailman, a historical novelist and 12-year history columnist for The Montclarion newspaper. This edition features 17 new images, recounts major events of recent decades such as the cataclysmic 1989 earthquake and 1991 fire, and summarizes demographic and development trends observed in Oakland leading into the twenty-first century.

Paperback, 6 x 9, 336 pages
